The Maze: Jazz ao vivo – Rio’s best live Jazz
Since 2005 The Maze brings you every first Friday of the month the most traditional Jazz night in Rio de Janeiro. For 7 consecutive years we have been listed by DOWNBEAT magazine as one of the 150 best Jazz venues in the world together with names like Blue Note and Ronnie Scott’s.
The Maze: World-renowned Jazz Bar,
Bed & Breakfast…a Work of Art
Right beside Brazil’s Swat Headquarters, The MAZE & its community offer you the safest and most welcoming place in town. Your visit is a unique insight into the real Rio de Janeiro. Talent, history, culture, it’s all here.
Over the years The Maze developed into a multi-faceted cultural center with Live Jazz events [cited 7 years running as World Top Jazz Venue by Downbeat Magazine], cutting edge Brazilian music shows, a permanent art exhibition, and architecture described as ‘Unique & Original’ by National Geographic. It’s also the only place you can get original Indian style curry in Rio.
The Maze supports local community teaching projects including classical music, ballet, football and English conversation.
What our guests say about us
The best place in Rio to listen to Jazz, maybe even in Brazil. Wonderful climate, unusual construction, panoramic views. The way there is an experience by itself. A place for those who are not picky and like good music.Ian on Facebook
Great, fun place with Jazz events every first Friday of the month and Indian Sunday lunch. Call and confirm – it’s worth it!Luiz on Google
The best place I have ever, ever, ever stayed in. I have travelled to many places but when I walked in the door of The Maze, I felt it in my bones that this place was special.Celia on TripAdvisor
Without a doubt the most original place to stay in Rio, the Maze is a home, a music venue, an art gallery and an institution tucked away at the top of a favela. The Telegraph
